Dr. Andrew Adams is the Associate Dean of the College of Fine and Performing Arts at Western Carolina University. He earned the Bachelor of Music in Piano from the Kansas City Conservatory, the Master of Music in Accompanying from the University of Illinois, and his Doctorate in Piano Performance at the University of Colorado. He serves on the editorial board of The Journal of Singing published by the National Association of Teachers of Singing. The author of two-dozen articles in journals around the world, he is a regularly featured columnist in Piano Professional, one of the leading pedagogy magazines in England. Co-authored with Dr. Bradley Martin, his first book is entitled Hanon Restored: Charles-Louis Hanon’s Five-finger Exercises Restored to His Original Design (Stipes Publishing). A second book, The Rachmaninoff Common-tone Series: A Guide for Keyboard Performers explores the harmonic sequence that Sergei Rachmaninoff practiced and advocated.
