Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Texas Woman’s University
Abigail Tilton currently serves as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Woman’s University. The college includes programs in the arts (visual and performing), sciences, humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary programs such as Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Associate Dean of the college and prior to that served as Program Director for the Social Work Program. Her scholarship has focused on child and family services including training social work students for careers in Child Protective Services, developing a program that paired parents successfully reunited with their children with parents who were struggling to be reunited, and developing programs for youth aging out of foster care. More recently, her scholarship has focused on values-based academic leadership and developing women as leaders in higher education.
Prior to coming to TWU, Dr. Tilton served as the founding Executive Director of AIDS Services of North Texas after a career as a hospital based medical social worker.
She is happily married to Kurt Krause and between the two of them, they have four wonderful daughters – Kayla, Amanda, Emily, and Elizabeth.
